DR TB Management Program

NATA has received grant as a sub recipient for implementation of DR TB management program under Save The Children International ( Principal Recipient)at national level. Thus under this grant, NATA implemented following activities.

DOTS and Drug Resistance (DR) TB Management Services

Under NATA/GENETUP DR centers there are 9 DR Sub Centers functioning at different location of the country. All these centers are running in partnership with the Government health facilities.

The Sub Centers are:

1. Helping Hand ;Chabel, Kathmandu
2. NMC College; Attarkhel, Kathmandu
3. Stupa ;Boudha, Kathmandu
4. Bir Hospital; Mahabaudha, Kathmandu
5. Dhading PHC; Dhading
6. Khaireni PHC; Chitwan
7. Sharadanagar PHC; Chitwan
8. NATA Chitwan; Chitwan
9. Kharanitar PHC; Nuwakot

It is running 2 DR TB treatment centers in Kathmandu and Morang Districts.

MDR Hostel

Two MDR TB Hostels located at Kathmandu and  Biratnagar Full package of lodding and fooding facilities are provided at these hostels of NATA at free of cost. These hostels treat MDR patients living away from home with concentrated support, care and balance diet.

HIV counseling and testing service

NATA runs HIV counseling and testing services at Kalimati to manage TB/HIV co- infection. The centre provides counseling and testing services to TB patients. It refers the HIV positive clients to concerned stakeholders for further care and support.

Culture DST and other laboratory services:

NATA has been providing culture and DST facilities. NATA GENETUP is functioning as a National Reference Laboratory for culture and DST services providing first line and second line DST facilitites. It also runs General Laboratory and X-ray services at NATA Central and NATA Morang.

Kalimati Chest Hospital

With the combine support of GoN and Global fund, NATA runs Kalimati Chest Hospital which is a 25 bedded hospital established in 1970 and is providing treatment and care services free of cost where 14 beds are allocated for Firstline TB Patients, 5 beds for DR-TB and 6 beds for other respiratory disorders and also 1 cabin.
