GENETUP

German-Nepal TB Project (GENETUP) is a project working in the health sector under the premises of NATA. It was established in 1987 under the act of SSNCC (Social Service national co-ordination committee) in the co-operation of Nepal Anti-Tuberculosis Association and Kuratorium Tuberculosis in de Welt e.v. Genetup is located at Kalimati. Genetup is serving the people of Nepal through its Tuberculosis Control Programme. This is the first project in South East Asian region which has introduced Supervised Treatment or Directly Observed treatment Short course ( DOSTS) regimen for TB patient. GENETUP laboratory, working under quality of Gauting Supra National reference Laboratory, Germany, runs a Laboratory of International Standard with the facility of AFB smear, solid culture, drug sensitivity test ( DST) and genotype line probe asset, which is functioning as a National Reference Laboratory.

  • Supplementation and Feasibility study of MGIT culture and DST.
  •  Identification test of DOTS PLUS patients by Molecular Genetic Assay
  • Comparative Study between L.J.DST and Hain Molecular Genetic assay (HAIN).
  •  surveillance of XDR TB among MDR TB patients
  • Drug resistance surveillance among the  TB patients in Nepal
  •  Providing orientation/training on Culture and DST
